Never seen a better 19" screen.

Review Date: December 28, 2008
Reviewer: Mr. D. Cottrell, North East, England
I visited Amazon today on purpose to review this TV.

I got this TV for christmas but I picked it out. I chose it because of the good specification and brand name and wasn't dissappoointed.

Picture: The TV has beautiful colour reproduction, brightness, great motion tracking and the picture looks amazing whatever you throw at it.
I am continually impressed with the picture whether I am playing blu-ray, dvd or analogue tv. I would recommend it on this basis alone. We have a lot of 19" screens in the house now, most of them are cheap acoustic solutions models, but some are Philips as well. This TV blows them all away and looks even better than my brothers 19" Samsung which is only a year old. I think it is well worth the extra outlay to get 15000:1 contrast and 380cdm2 brightness.

Sound: The sound is really good considering that it has no visible speakers and sound comes from an invisible point on the front of the TV. I wasn't expecting much from the sound but I find that it fills the room and impresses me quite well: 3.5/5. I noticed that the sound is really good when you output it from your hifi instead.

Menus: The menus really blow you away. You can tune individual analogue / digital channels or use auto tune. Each channel can be retuned or ignored for programme +- buttons. The interface is very easy to use. The info button is particularly useful as it will tell you the resolution of any input, for example 567i SD for DVD or 720p for blu-ray. The ratio button is also very handy, which has lots of modes such as 16:9, 4:3, 14:9 or zoom 1 & 2. If you've had TVs in the past which left large black bars then you will never have this problem again.

Inputs: The TV supports component, 2x scarts, 2 x HDMI, composite (3 pin input), aerial, digital out, VGA in for pc. There are more connections then I could name, there is even a PCMCIA pc card slot for some reason!

Finish: The TV is glossy and looks great. The buttons are all along the top rather than the side which for me is an improvement. The remote control is of very high quality and reminds me of the new Panasonic ones which hifi magazines have been raving about for a while. It is very clearly laid out. My only gripe with the remote is that it could be a little longer but it is designed as a bedroom TV.

Other: The auto tune tunes in digital and analogue simulataneously. Some other models feel like the tv is divided into two sections but the two feel blended into one unified package on this TV.

Despite having no digital in our area yet, the tv managed to tune the channels anyway. We can get the EPG for each channel which is very nice to use.

Bad points: Channels can't be easily removed. Analogue channels start at 900 (analogue is going out after all) and sometimes the tv tunes in channels with poor reception automatically. Picture can sometimes look a tiny bit dark, increasing the brightness is necessary on some inputs such as XBOX but out of the box the picture is almost flawless.

I highly recommend this TV, I find it almost impossible to fault. It has been responsibly and intelligently laid out and exceeds even the highest expectations.

Fantastic small TV

Reviewer: forzando,
I bought this television for use in my university room. One thing which made this TV stand out was it's very high contrast ratio. This makes a big difference in picture qality. When it arrived it was easily set up within 10-15 minutes, and a few minutes for it to be tuned. Once up and running the picture quality is really good as is the sound. I also use it to play on an xbox 360, using a HDMI cable. The qulity through this is also really good on 720p. A TV this size will never be as good as a larger one due to the limitations of size, but it is easily one of the best TV's for it's size.

Overall, I am really pleased with this, and woild highly reccomend it to anyone interested in buying a small TV.

Excellent little tv

I bought this tv about a month ago and thort i should write a review on it. the tv is excellent...it only took a couple of minutes to set up..and it found all the digi channels! it looks sleek and sexy. The only thing i was disappointed with was..the vewing quality at a certain angle.however i think this is my fault..i needa find a better place to put the tv,lol

All in alll..an excellent tv..and would highly recommend it to any1 who wants a tv for there room or kitchen. im going to buy another one for the kitchen :)

Reviewer: Roux,
After receiving an X-box 360 for my birthday i realised i was going to have to upgrade my old CRT television to a HD compatible model. Seen as though i was upgrading my televison i decided that i would like one with lots of connections, seen as though i have a fair few consoles it would be easier for me to have them all connected to the television at once instead of having to chop and change. After a few months of searching i finally found this television, HD compatible, bigger then my old television and loads of connections in the back, it fitted all my requirements and when i saw the price i was sold. Since buying the television i have been more then happy with it, it's easy to use and the picture quality is great, I can't help but drool at how nice the graphics look on my X-box now. Not only that but i have my Wii and PS2 connected to this television as well as my X-box 360, with enough connections spare for another 3 consoles. This television has loads of connections, 2 scarts, 1 composite, 1 component, 2 HDMI plus others that i don't know what they are for. However some people have complained about the sound, and at first i was a bit dissapointed with the sound myself until i scrolled through the menu a tweaked with the sound settings. What you have to remember is it's only a 19" television and isn't going to have the same sound quality as it's 50" counterpart, but if you tweak the sound settings i'm fairly certain you'll find a more then acceptable sound setting. Unfortunatley i haven't tried out the built in freeview for this television as i only use this television for my games consoles, so i can't coment on how well it receives freeview. All in all, for the price this is a great telly, you'll be hard pushed to find a telly of this quality and with even half the amount of connections this one has for a price like this.

Bought this LG tv to replace a panasonic which had done me proud for many years but had reached its sell by date.On opening, was impressed with appearance & was easy to set up. Picture was very good but as soon as i turned up the sound i was disappointed. I koow i should not have expected too much from a 19 inch model but i could'nt seem to get any depth of sound at all! To solve this problem i have recently purchased an external speaker system to get the sound i want! Very good tv but expected better sound quality!
Great telly, mediocre sound

This telly is great - really nice picture, really easy to use, really good fully automated setup, and detected more Digital channels than my other (bigger more expensive) TV for some reason. The remote is easy to use and the controls on screen are clear and responsive.

The only negative is the sound - it is a little tinny. Ideal for a bedroom or kitchen but not recommended for viewing films or gaming unless you supplement with speakers.

Perfect for me though!

I bought this TV on the reviews I read and I have not been disappointed. The TV is well made, easy to tune and has a reasonably well laid out remote. The quality of the picture is excellent as is the sound, especially considering I am having to use a portable aerial at present. What more can I say other than I would recommend this TV.
Moving to Digital

With TV's in most rooms we now have to move to digital, changeover August this year. The LG is a nice size for bedrooms and kitchen and has a good picture. We tend to stay with what we know and have purchased LG 19" digital tv's before. Only niggle with this latest 19L3000 the guide button has changed, it now moves to the actual programme each click where previously it was possible to review all the guide and only moved to selected programme when using the OK button. But a neat TV nontheless
