I shopped around for ages looking for the right flat screen, i really liked the styling of the Samsung and also wanted a LCD however, i just got sick in the end of reading review after review, and in the end i came to the conclusion: that what ever i part with my hard earned money for had to be good.
I got to the point where there was just far too much choice, and just couldn't find "the" one, but then i got a text from my other half saying she had found "the" TV which ticked all of the boxes of which were a must, 1080p, 50" and style, this PS8000 has all of these. I wasn't too keen on the whole Plasma idea with all of the negativity surounding them including screen burn and using more power but there really isn't that much difference between the Plasma and LCD.
So, me being me, had to see it in one of the shops in town, could i find it..? NO! there wasn't one to be found anywhere and i wasn't going to part with my money in a hurry, so i went to Richer Sounds to pick their brains, and all of the other big electrical stores, all were raving about this PS8000 so in the end i got an awesome deal with Amazon and unlike me, went for the gamble...it paid off big time!
This set is so good, the 360 looks...i just can't find the words...but amazing would be an understatement, blu-ray...ditto, i kid you not, this is the one, you do not need anything else than this...do what i did if you don't believe me, i would have gone for the Samsung but there were hardly any facts or info about the sets availiable, even on their own site, so i threw caution to the wind and have never looked back, well done LG!
p.s i was goig to go for the 60" but the missus wouldn't authorise that, but it's huge!!!!
Great value, Awesome picture, Sounds and looks great!

My TV shopping experience with Amazon was excellent, I was kept up to date with the delivery times. Product arrived in good condition, no cracks or dents whats so ever. The TV it self is really good, I get good quality SD from sky in which I am very relived. Blu ray is excellent and plus with THX, the calibration is done to industry standard. so need to worry about picture settings.
Only concern, watch out for channels with bright logo such as sky news, sky sports etc to avoid image retention.
I highly reccomend this set, its the best value premium model for under £1k.
ps. This set had excellent review from AV forums which convinced me to buy this set in the first place. |
Looks great!

Product LG 50PS8000 50" Plasma HD TV - Arrived in pristine condition and installation was really easy, just follow the on-screen instructions. Bought this item to compliment my Sky HD box purchase. What a difference to "normal" viewing, even for programmes showing in non-HD format. This tv delivers in every department with plenty of options for your own personal viewing choice. I followed up on this item by buying an LG surround sound system and after a few hours "testing" every cable set-up I could imagine, finally struck lucky and obtained the combination I needed.
Truly amazing double act when watching DD sound format programmes.
Small glitch......after the first day viewing, the fuse in the tv mains plug blew for unknown reason. I checked and found the fuse was only rated at 10amps. Replaced this with the normal 13 amp fuse for UK mains and have had no bother since.
If you want more enjoyment from your viewing, I can recommend this product whole-heartedly.

I bought this TV because I had outgrown my 32inch Sony LCD. Apart from the sheer shock at the size of the box that this TV came in, I have had nothing but happyness from this set. The standard of picture on the standard digital freeview is great, Blu-Ray on my PS3 is jaw-dropping and my HD gaming on the Xbox 360 is fantastic thanks to the dedicated game mode. The sound delivered via the "invisible speaker system" is clear and crisp and has a great bass to it.
Obviously every product has a negative though. Despite not being a major issue, the screen does tend to have image retention - this might be due to the fact that its brand new and hasnt worn itself in properly. This can be countered by lowering the brightness and contrast of the picture, but I haven't done this because as long as you have a moving screen (i.e watching a film, playing a game) then image retention becomes a moot point.
All in all, this TV is fantastic and I have nothing but great things to say about it. Top stuff LG. |
