I have spent the last week searching the internet and my local shops for a new HD tv. I finally decided that i wanted a panasonic plasma as they have excellent reviews and my parents have one which i thought was very good. Eventually I settled on the 'Panasonic TX-P50S10B 50-inch Widescreen Full HD 1080p Plasma TV with Freeview'. I ordered it yesterday through Amazon via 'Ask Electronics'... and I am so glad that I did. Firstly, the price was very competetive. It wasn't the cheapest offer going but i liked the look of Ask Electronics customer feedback (99% positive feedback), and the fact that they claimed to be able to deliver this big TV in 3-5 days. After I placed my order I saw a customer review here saying to stay away from Ask Electronics and this got me worried. There was no need to worry though, the TV arrived the next day (26 hours after I placed my order). The packaging was in perfect condition, as was the TV.
I Have since hooked it up to my Sky+ HD box and WOW!! The picture quality is amazing and not an ounce of blur or trailing on fast moving action such as football. If you are not planning to have hd satellite or cable for this tv then standard definition does look rather bad as the screen is so large and the small amount of pixels on standard definition are having to be spread out over this large screen. I also hooked it up to my ps3 and the graphics are amazing. This tv is amazing value for money and an excellent purchase. I saw a few people saying that you should get the 'G' series by panasonic ... but they are about £200 more and to be honest I couldn't justify paying that much more for maybe slightly deeper blacks and an extra HDMI socket.
If you want a new tv around the £700 mark and fancy a 50" this is the one for you, I also highly recommend Ask Electronics. |

| This is the second panasonic tv I've had and they never fail to please. My old plasma is still going after 3 years with no problems. This tv is a great size, great picture, I give it 9.5/10 lost .5 due to a feature the expands the immage and distorts HD. You can turn it off but I can't find a use for it. |
Well worth the money.

just finished wathing arsenal v porto (Arsenal 5 Porto 0) on standard def through sky+ box, pic was the best iv seen, crystal clear. first saw this plasma at a friends with his sky hd box, the image was flawless, which made me buy this.
50" is massive, you'll need to sit at least 10ft away to really enjoy it. Front built in speakers sound the same as those 21" sony nicam tv's from the 90's which is standard on almost every tv iv seen between £800- £2000- bear in mind the front speakers are purely for operational purposes only. you really will need to invest either in surround sound or an amp, maybe even through your current hifi system. anything is better than the standard sound.
Tv is heavy but its light enough for the average joe to lift it up with both hands and put it on the tv cabinet, wouldn't take more than 5 seconds.
my only gripe with this tv, when you connect it to the pc to act as the main or the second monitor (PC Input is on the side of the tv, cable not supllied) the resolution can only be set to 1280x720 which magnifies even the cursor to 10 times its original size, websites on firefox or IE browser is not clear enough to read properly, everything is so stretched and there is nothing you can do about it as it only operates on one screen resolution.
The tv itself is magic, pic quality great on movies and football, its shiny piano black, just turned the plasma off after watching it for 5 hours, the fans are not cool but not warm either, somewhere inbetween.
buy one NOW... but stay away from ASK Electronics, just go to some of the online forums about them, you'll know what i mean. |

I bought this Panasonic to replace a faulty Sony we had had for less than six months. The TV itself is perfect but like all HD plasmas and LCDs it only really shows its true potential when watching Blu Rays.
Delivery was poor via HDNC, we were not called prior to delivery estimated delivery was wrong twice! The only let down really. |
