When I first saw this TV in a store I could not believe how fantastic the design was - super slim and super sleek. I have now owned one of these TV's since May 2009 and I am bowled over by the picture quality. I started off with it hooked up to an old Sky+ box through the Scart connection. The performance with this set-up ranged from average to poor with a grainy picture and nasty motion artefacts.
The picture using the in-built digital tuner is very good (even though my aerial is fairly old and the connecting cable even older!
Next I hooked it up to a Blu ray player using an HDMI connection and this provided absolutely fantastic picture quality with deep blacks, bright whites and vibrant colours. The 100Hz processing keeps motion artefacts in check to provide excellent fast action reproduction. I spent some time playing with the huge number of picture settings - although the 'out of the box' settings are pretty good. Even the on-screen menus are nice to use.
I now have a Sky+HD box connected through HDMI and this is fantastic! Watching 'Planet Earth' really shows off the Samsungs abilities and Wimbledon coverage in HD seems like you are actually at the side of the court. Even the SD content through the sky HD box is superb.
The viewing angle is pretty good but the blacks do start to look greyer as the angle increases #which is typical of LCD screens#.
In my opinion the price of the Samsung wall mount is daylight robbery. I have used a standard slim Vesa wall bracket which does the job just fine. If you don't want to mount it on the wall it comes with a nice heavy glass base that looks good and works well.
The only real down-side is the sound quality which sounds fairly hollow and weak irrespective of tweaking the equalizer settings. I have it connected to an external surround sound amp using the optical digital output so I don't use the internal speakers at all.
The inbuilt picture gallery and other content is quite fun as are the internet widgets - though the novelty factor soon wears off. The DLNA was a doddle to set-up using the supplied media server software. I can now bore my family and friends with my holiday videos and photos at the touch of a button.
In summary this is a stunningly designed TV that provides picture performance to rival much more expensive sets. Highly recommended. |

| Fantastic picture with the deepest blacks. Does so much more with its web connection and 2 USB docks to play pictures, music or videos. Audio not bad, but not as good as the screen. The best big screen there is at the moment for the price. |
Probably the best TV anywhere near the price

New technology - LED back light- has made this TV outstanding. My daughter who has a plasma set, wanted to know why the picture was so clear! Also it's a beautiful design (didn't like the red surround of the 40inch model)
I was all ready to buy a Sony - because everyone does - then saw this model, which was just recently on the market. There wasn't any choice...
Unless you're ready to pay £2000+, take a look at this TV in action first. You wont regret it. |
Incredible!

Within 3 days of ordering from Amazon (free delivery) the set was up and running. From someone who sometimes struggles with technology it was a doddle to set up. The on-screen menu is intuitive and there is no real need for the manual - well only if you want to use all the extras such as the internet.
The picture is incredible, and the built -in freeview tuner was even better than my old digibox (Humax). With Sky-HD there was a noticeable improvement in picture quality.
Although no expert I found the sound perfectly acceptable. I have no doubt additional speakers would help but the sound is okay by my standards.
This new LED technology is certainly worth the extra cost over a LED set. At least nowadays I look forward to watching the television! |

If you love TV, DVD's, gaming then this is for you. Once you get over the myriad of connectivity options and configurability this screen has the lot. The on wall mounting from Samsung is amazingly simple, however installing a 46" TV is not for the novice, however with preparation it's easy. I now enjoy amazing clarity and the black balance is the best I've seen in a long time.
I've not had time to use the media module if it looks comprehensive and well thought out.
I was also looking to buy a new Blue Ray DVD player at the time so I opted for the new Samsung which is sleek and can be wall mounted also. Once I connected up the two devices I was amazed to see the TV turn on when you turned on the DVD player and on the correct DVD channel!
If you are looking for a smart, low profile, HD TV then this is the one for you....do even think about any others...it's truly breath taking to watch especially when you use a HD source.
This is a great TV and much better than Plasma/LCD.

I was blown away with this TV! out of the box it looks very slim and stylish but the picture needs some tweaking. Dont get me wrong it looks great but after seeing it calibrated before and after, its capable of a lot more than the standard setup. Dont worry about setting it up there are loads of websites with step by step setup instructions.
The chassis is very lightweight and its very easy to hang on the wall. The speakers are on the back and sound great for the size they are. The 100hz feature is great for sports and can be turned off easily for movies etc...
The TV will play music, movies or photo's straight from a USB memory stick. You can also buy an optional USB wireless dongle and use an external wifi hard drive or laptop. Its pretty future proof and well worth the money, the only bad thing is that its now £200 less than when I bought mine...... |
Great Quality TV

I have had this TV for a week now and love it. It is not perfect as others have said so I would have done a 4.5 if that was possible but the good bits are so good I decided to round up rather than down.
Cons
Getting these out of the way first. The main issue with it is the sound is good but not great and with the rest of the package being great you notice it. I already have and only use a surround sound system so it would not matter if it had no sound at all to me and also because I use a surround sound system I am used to great sound so I may be overstating this issue.
I did initially have my picture to the tv hdmi and sound to my surround system via audio cable but this showed up some lip sync issues. I now connect sound via a digital from the tv itself to the surround system and all is great again.
The internet connection is fun but still functionally immature so see how it grows. I would still rather use a pc.
Pros
Set up is easy, though I still need to experiment with a few of the settings. It recognised other devices easy. The controls are logical and easy to follow [even my partner agrees!]. Picture is the best I have seen and in the end is the main reason for a tv. Contrast is particularly brilliant. I was a bit worried about "only" going 100mhz rather thant the growing number of 200mhz out there but sport and action are very clear. Blu-Ray and Sky HD stunning. Normal tv and dvds upsyncd [I have the Samsung BD-P4600 blue ray player] is surpsingly good and better than my old setup [A samsung HD-Ready LCD and Sony Blu Ray].
The ability to watch media from a networked pc [dlna] and.or usb stick is great.
I am not in a great area for getting digital freeview but this tv shows all the channels very well [and a lot better than the other two freeview tvs I have in the house]. |
Phenomenal TV

I bought mine a week ago, and the quality of the picture, even on SD Sky is phenomenal. SD picture you think looks almost as good as HD, then when you switch to HD channels, the picture on 720p (Sky HD goes to 720p or 1020i) is almost Blu-Ray esq..
I also bought the Samsung wall mount, which is a bit pricey but is easily the best designed wall mount, very very clever and simple to set up Had it on the wall in 20 mins (most of which was carefully spent measuring distances) The manual is easy to follow, TV set up quickly, and plays everything from USB.
The only thing I would say is not to buy the Wi-Fi dongle, at £55 is a bit expensive, and you are better off running an Ethernet cable straight into the Ethernet port, much faster and cheaper. But still does not detract from what is an amazing piece of kit. |

| We are extremely pleased with this set. Having shopped around and compared picture quality we then ordered it from Amazon who were offering a very competitive price. We found it very simple to set up and connect to our network and various sources - we are using it with a Wii, PS3, cable STB, DVD, and a DVI PC (a Mac mini). Plenty of inputs. We have not yet plumped for a surround-sound system but we have the TV outputting to our stereo set-up which we are really happy with. The set handles all of the source material very well - from Blu-ray discs to low-res video files to games - everything looks great and the upscaling on standard resolution material really does make a difference. Also love the way the set swivels easily from side to side to create the optimum viewing angle depending on where people are sitting in the room. We've lived with it for a month now and the only negative thing I can say is we're now spending a lot more time sitting around watching telly! |
