What is HDMI you ask?
HDMI is the acronym for High Definition Multimedia Interface which connects audio and visual components such as a DVD player and a receiver such as a High Definition TV (HDTV).
The great thing about HDMI is that it supports your standard, enhanced, and of course HD video needs all in one cable. HDMI also supports 8-channel digital audio as well as all HDTV standards and even allows extra bandwidth for future technological advancements.
HDMI transfers uncompressed digital video and audio for truly fantastic image quality. Analog equipment, and digital to analog interfaces, lose some of its image and audio qualities due to compression. HDMI solves this problem in a cost effective manner and with only one cable.
HDMI also supports backward compatibility by supporting enhanced digital formats like 480p as well as high definition formats such as 720p, 1080i and 1080p.
